  • Introduction

    Course introduction

    The Design Theory Course is a theory-based course whose objective is to enhance the students’ design planning and concept setting capabilities. Only 5 of all its subjects provide the basic practical training, with the rest consisting of theoretical teaching. The main subjects include Design Theory, Design Survey Methods, Design Management, Design Marketing, Design Culture and brand-related subjects, all of which have been designed to improve the students’ design planning and concept setting capabilities. The Course is ideal for executives and employees in design-related firms, other people interested in learning various design trends, and those who would like to improve their capabilities in the design planning and consulting fields.

    Course Characteristics

    Korea’s only design theory course.

    More than 85% of the Course is based on theoretical education, focusing on enhancing the students’ design planning capabilities by providing extensive knowledge of Design Management, Design Marketing and Design Culture.

    Has the best faculty.

    The Course is taught by the faculty of Hanyang University, and the School invites a number of professors from design-related departments at renowned universities as well as prominent hands-on designers.

    Runs programs to improve practical skills of students without practical experience, instructed by the professors.

    The Course offers a new subject called the “Diverse basic Practical Skills”, which is currently taught offline by a full-time professor.

    Actively offers programs that enhance design planning capabilities.

    By introducing retraining programs for hands-on workers, the Course has established a systematic design concept. The School of Design provides various practical subjects for presentations and introduces the newest paradigms, and offers the largest number of design theory lectures. Its critique sessions for practical assignments follow the unique feedback methods developed by Hanyang Cyber University’s School of Design.

    Provides offline instruction in each course and career interest from full-time professors.

    The instructions are held twice a month in Cyber Lecture Hall 2 in the Hanyang University.
