Cultivating Economic Leaders and Financial Experts
  • Introduction

    The Objective of the Department

    Economics is the study of efficient economic growth and distribution and systemic analysis of economic behaviors of companies and consumers. Microscopically, students will learn behavior patterns of individuals and corporations, reasonable decision making process, market structure and principle of operation. Macroscopically, topics such as economic growth, currency, finance, inflation, and unemployment will be introduced. The Department of Economics and Finance is established on basis of fundamental theory of economics to study not only general financial market (bank, stock, insurance and etc.) but also approach individual’s financial planning systemically and academically.

    The Department of Economics and Finance focuses on the following areas:

    1. Macroeconomics including economic growth, finances and inflation
    2. Financial economy which deals with relationship between financial markets and physical markets and financial industry (bank, stock, insurance and etc)
    3. Monetary economy which studies currency and interest rate
    4. Microeconomics which analyze individual’s behaviors and decision making process in economic point of view
    5. Financial planning and many other areas

    The Purpose and Goal of the Department

    • Fostering talents with in-depth knowledge in the areas of behavioral theory of the firm, industrial organization theory, infonomics and game theory
    • Fostering talents with investment analysis skills and academic knowledge for financial items such as financial markets, currency, interest rates, stocks, bonds
    • Fostering talents in public sectors related to the field of microeconomics such as finance, budget, inflation, economic growth and public policy
    • Fostering talents with interests in individual behaviors and decisions making process for economic motivation which can be applied in marketing, human resources, and advertisements

    Features of the Department

    • Instead of theory focused education, focuses more on researching, applying and debating economic phenomenon and issues around corporations and industrial organizations
    • Fostering talents with in depth knowledge which financial markets needs
    • Practical curriculum which makes it easier to earn various financial related certificates
    • Education that can make reasonable individual’s financial planning and consumption
