    Introduction of the Department

    Digital architecture and urban engineering comprehensively explores the theory, knowledge, and experience of various disciplines centered on cities and architectures that form the physical space and foundation of the society which we live in.

    In fact, there is endless progress of planning and developments based on units of cities and architectures, and centered on such activities, there are close communication and collaboration with experts in the relevant fields such as legal, administrative, economic, and political areas. Along with the 4th industrial revolution, the future architecture and urbanization markets are constantly demanding new products centered on digital-based information such as smart homes and smart cities that converge technologies like ICT (Information Communication Technology), IoT (Internet of Things), and Big Data.

    In light of such market changes, the Department of Digital Architecture and Urban Engineering is composed of curriculum that organically combines architectural, urbanization, and information technologies. In addition, in order to provide learning on construction services such as design, construction, operation, and maintenance using the latest technology called 3D-based BIM, a specialized BIM subject has been added to the curriculum.

    The Department of Digital Architecture and Urban Engineering opens the way to a promising career and provides educational solutions for fostering smart human resources who can lead the architecture and urbanization market trends.

    Educational Goals

    • Foster sustainable human resources in pursuit of environmental, economic, efficient aspects in line with urban planning, development, and management.
    • Foster practical human resources with the competence to implement architectural planning, design, construction, maintenance tasks using BIM.
    • Foster human resources who can converge and dynamically respond to the rapidly changing global architecture and urbanization markets.

    Educational Content

    • Learn the urban and architectural trends and practical examples required for project implementation such as real-world application of urban planning, development methods, etc.
    • Learn urbanization in-depth such as land use planning and site planning concerning new smart city developments and old city developments using urban restoration.
    • Learn the practical knowledge required for project implementation that encompasses the entire life cycle of construction projects, in other words, project feasibility analysis, planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
    • Learn the theories, working-level knowledge, and technologies related to the latest designs, engineering, and construction methods by using BIM.

    Careers and Licenses

    Acquire 2nd Level Expert BIM Operation License in Digital Architecture and Urban Engineering

    • Acquire 2nd Level Expert BIM Operation License through completion of Urban Architecture BIM, Comprehensive BIM Design Project, Digital Construction Management with B grade or higher.

    • Engineer Architecture, Industrial Engineer Architecture, Construction Cost Manager, 3D Interior Design Consultant, Engineer Urban Planning, Professional Engineer Urban Planning

    Career

    • Urban planning and urban development expert for public institutions, state-owned enterprises, central government, and local governments; employment in construction companies, architectural design firms, engineering companies, real estate development companies, and real estate asset management companies
    • Creation of expert digital architecture jobs: BIM manager in charge of BIM data building, utilization, and management in all project phases; BIM coordinator per field (construction, structure, MEP, civil engineering, etc.) who implements design and engineering tasks through BIM-based collaboration, knowledge DB sales through accumulation of BIM database and digital information
