    History of the Department

    The Automotive IT Convergence Engineering Department was newly established in 2014 by being selected as a specialized department for cyber colleges by the Ministry of Education and KERIS in 2013.

    It was also selected as a promising new department in 2015 by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.

    Novel Name of the Department
    “There is a proper name called mechatronics that is derived from the words machine and electronics. However, as the word can sound a bit complex, we have decided on mechanical control engineering. Here, the word control refers to IT convergence. It is the convergence of mechanical/automotive engineering and IT. The term mechanical control engineering contains the field that is the foundation of all industries and the core that can determine national competitiveness. Based on our online education know-hows, the goal is to foster human resources who can lead the field of mechanical engineering by providing educational curriculum that allows acquisition of expert theories and practical skills and by developing creative and implementation competencies.
    Features of the Department
    “First, the students can engage in subjects that are wide-ranged yet faithful to the basics. Highly qualified teaching staff equipped academic and practical competencies is also one of the department’s biggest strengths. The engineering departments of Hanyang Cyber University provide lectures from full-time professors equipped with theoretical and practical experiences as well as visiting professors who are expert researchers from national/industrial research institutes, industrial practitioners, and more.     “Mechanical engineering is the basis of fields such as automotive, shipbuilding, aerospace, robotics, mechatronics, and green energy. Mechanical engineering is the study of not only the design and production of everyday machines, but also state-of-the-art technologies such as automobiles, superhigh-speed trains, satellites, energy, robotics, artificial organs, and nanotechnology. Machines are a crucial part of all industries and are endlessly developing. Accordingly, mechanical engineering will take center stage for a long time to come.
    Practical Exercise and Experiments via Online Lectures
    The “electude.com/en” simulator education curriculum is utilized. Simulation-based online practical exercise for automobiles is utilized. There are many hands-on practitioners due to the nature of cyber colleges, which also means there are many areas that can be naturally acquired through contents learned in school as well as onsite experiences.”

    “First off, graduates can get into higher degree programs. Employment in industries related to machines and automobiles is also possible. Graduates equipped with theoretical knowledge and practical experience in mechanical control engineering can contribute to diverse areas in our society as expert mechanical engineers.
