  • Introduction

    Purpose and Goal of the Major

    Mechanical control engineering is a field that converges mechanical engineering, electrical & electronic engineering, and control engineering. It becomes the technical foundation of not only the manufacturing industries such as robotics, semiconductor/display manufacturing equipment, various automated equipment, machines, automobiles, shipbuilding, aviation, and electronics, but also the cutting edge industries such as intelligent cars/robots, aerospace, semiconductors, nanotechnology, and medical engineering. It is a field containing the core technologies that determine the nationwide industrial competitiveness.

    In order to raise nationwide industrial competitiveness and meet the demands in the field of mechanical control that is rapidly growing, the Department of Mechanical Control Engineering has the goal to foster human resources who will lead the field of mechanical control engineering through expert theoretical and practical learning in the field of mechanical engineering-based electric & electronic and control engineering and through cultivation of creative and practical competencies.

    Mechanical control engineering is the technological basis of the manufacturing industries such as machines, automobiles, shipbuilding, aviation, and electronics as well as promising 21st century technologies such as intelligent robots/cars, nanotechnology, and medical engineering. Accordingly, technologies related to mechanical control engineering will continue to take center stage in the future.

    In addition, in line with the trends of further subminiaturized, complex systematized, digitized, and smarter products, the field of mechanical control engineering is expected to receive even more attention.
