The Department of Application Software Engineering seeks to cultivate and train experts in computer-related fields who will play an important role in future IT technologies. In 2018, the department was selected by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Education & Research Information Service (KERIS) to train elementary and secondary school coding instructors. To this end, the department focuses on teaching students to develop algorithms and gain problem solving skills with educational block coding programs. Ultimately, graduates of the department will become teachers who are competent, creative, and confident, and can instill these same qualities in their future students while providing a general-purpose education consisting of basic coding courses.

In addition, in order to cultivate valuable human resources in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, the department is also offering classes in the basics of artificial intelligence to deep learning and machine learning, while focusing on practical learning step by step. Students of the department can expect to have their practical skills strengthened by preparing and acquiring software-related certificates such as that for information processing engineers. Such a certificate will help students gain access to a wider range of careers that suit their aptitude, such as jobs in computer software development companies, Internet server construction, Internet service companies, elementary and secondary school as coding teachers, and organizations that employ SW instructors. In addition, through related online/offline communities, students have opportunities to meet others to share ideas and experiences, and discuss possibilities to attend graduate school.
