Educational Objective

The Department of Counseling Psychology for Military and Police Force of Hanyang Cyber University aims to cultivate the ability to solve a wide range of problems facing military and police organizations through evaluation and counseling from the perspective of counseling psychology. To this end, we would like to cultivate talents suitable for the new military and police organizational culture by educating the military and police on the basis of counseling and practical psychological evaluation and counseling programs that are needed immediately. The Department of Counseling Psychology for Military and Police Force operates a variety of courses to train future professionals in military and police counseling. Students in the program can receive support to obtain a counseling expert certificate in the field of military and police or youth and general counseling first and second grades. Students will learn basic knowledge of their majors through courses in the Department of Counseling Psychology and Youth Coaching and Counseling as well as Military and Police Counseling. From their 3rd year, students will learn in-depth knowledge about their specific area of interest can be either the military counseling track or the police counseling track. Seniors can study about real military and police counseling case subjects and subjects related to career change after discharge or retirement.

  • Barrack Life Expert Counselor (Psychological Counselor)

    Currently, the Ministry of Defense selects counselors who specialize in barrack life of the army, navy, and air force, among the general public and soldiers. As the problem of military maladjustment is taken seriously, it is highly likely that the number of military counselors will be increased. Thus, graduates of the program can seek employment as professional counselors to solve the problems of soldiers, working in military-related organizations such as subordinate units and training centers.

  • Military Counseling Psychologist

    With a certificate awarded by the Korean Military Counseling Association, graduates can seek employment as professional counselors for military units whose role would include conducting various psychological evaluations and counseling for soldiers and military personnel.

  • Victim Psychology Specialist

    A license awarded by the National Police Agency recognizes those who have graduated from this department and have worked (research) experience of more than 2 years in the field of psychological counseling. Recipients can seek employment as victim psychological experts for the police.
